Usually, when you download a graphics file (like a JPEG) from Netscape, it looks like one of these:


 

In this case, the reason is that Netscape knows how to see the JPEGs, but when you ask it to save the image to disk, it tells your computer the file belongs to JPEGView.

To see the file you downloaded, you can either open it again from Netscape, or view it from JPEGView (that is, if you have JPEGView on your computer)

If you don't have JPEGView, your downloaded images will appear as unknown files to your compter, as below:
